Okay, so Friday and Saturday was THE MUSICAL!!! And because I love you guys so much (as in A LOT) I'm going to do my best to re-create it for you so you can feel like you were there too.
First of all, it was AMAZING. I seriously cannot even explain how amazing it felt to be up there in front of a live audience. I wasn't nervous at all, which was the most shocking part of it. I seriously thought I would be freaking out but when I got out there I was just.... happy. I was too thrilled and excited to be nervous, if that makes any sense at all. And I felt so proud to show off this finished product from three super hard weeks of work. The people I met are now good friends that I needed, and I stopped more than once to just soak it all in. The feeling that I was a part of something special and I was welcomed warmly and people were happy to have me... I felt like I belonged for the first time in quite a while (at school I mean. I always feel like I belong here <33)
So the first number was Wide Open Spaces from the musical Curtains. Yes, none of us had heard of it either. YouTube it. [I'm the one with the hat on sitting down in the front.]
Then, my friend Sarah had a solo while my new bestie Cassie- the Glinda to my Elphaba- and I got ready for the Wicked number. So yeah, I had about three minutes to change and get green. Backstage I was running around like a mad lady. Anyway, here are some pictures of us singing What Is This Feeling.
Then, I had three numbers to get the make-up off. I was even crazier after. I had three or four other girls help me get out of the dress and change again, everyone wiping green off as fast as possible so I was ready for the next group number. But we got it done, so I was back to pale for Dancing Queen from Mama Mia, the only choreographed number with all the girls. I'm the one in the white dress with the black sash.
Then there were a bunch more numbers I wasn't in (lame, hahaha) and the big finale was a mash up/medley/whatever of four songs HAIR (from -gasp- the musical HAIR), Good Morning Starshine (which was only five people, I was with everyone else swaying in the back), Aquarius, and Let The Sun Shine. For this one we were dressed like hippies. I'm the one in the shiny dress, black boots, and white belt. I'm also the sweatiest, which is nasty but running around so much and being under those lights made us all really hot.
For Let The Sun Shine we ran out in the audience, which was fun.
And then we got back on stage for the curtain call and one last verse of Let The Sun Shine.
And that, my lovelies, was my entire experience. I got three things of flowers from my friends and family, and the best part of the entire night was seeing my old therapist (long story, Readers Digest version is that she's like a second mom to me and I haven't seen her in over a year) who I didn't think was coming. So when I saw her appear after the show I promptly burst in to tears.
That was the best part of the entire experience for me. I missed her. :_)
So yeah, I'm back and better than ever and thank each of you tremendously for putting up with my insanely long absence. And I'll stop rambling now. Love you guys!!!
