PERSONALITY,
Seth is the epitome of 'sweet', really. He's the kind of guy who will help that elderly woman carry her groceries, then get into some interesting discussion, and next thing he knows, it's three hours later, her groceries are put away, and he's made the cookies she bought. He's certainly a sucker for those 'back in the day' stories or, perhaps, he just likes keeping people company.
No matter how friendly he may be, he certainly isn't one for large crowds. He prefers to keep things small -- himself, his family, a friend or two, and his girl (when he has one). That's all he needs to function, and that's what he wants. It isn't that he's necessarily shy, he just doesn't like to try and talk about the crowd. He is a very soft spoken boy.
Seth, along with being sweet, is quite the hopeless romantic. When he finds a girl he takes an interest to, they can expect to be pampered. He will never push them to do anything they don't want to. He'll always want to cuddle, will always invite them over to cook for them, will always tell them they're the most beautiful girl in the world. This is a large part of who he is for the sheer fact that, when he has a girl, she consumes his life entirely.
Unfortunately, along with his clinginess and attachment comes jealousy. A lot of this is because he's frightened of losing the people he adores, and he's scared that someone will come along and sweep his current girlfriend off of their feet, causing them to leave him. This comes to be an issue; if he catches a whiff of something happening, he's quick to break up with the girl and leave to find someone who will put him first, much as he puts them first.
He's a very emotional guy -- very much in tune with his 'sensitive' side, he's that guy who you'll catch crying at the end of The Notebook (which, by the way, he loves very much). The guy who'll cry if something's wrong with someone he loves, who will stay up late worried sick about his sister. He romanticizes situations, quite often, and is a bit dramatic when the situation suits.
All in all, though, he's a very calm guy. It takes a hell of a lot to get him angry, though when he is, it could very possibly take a week to calm him right back down. Most of the time, however, he just gets sad instead of angry -- which could very possibly be worse.
HISTORY,
Seth Hall was born on September twenty-third to Angie and Michael Hall, a middle-class couple residing in Augusta, Maine. Michael was a dentist, and a rather popular one at that, while Angie quit her job as a teacher to become a stay at home mother. Seth grew up an average child, someone who maybe lacked a bit in the friendship department, but he was happy nevertheless.
By the time he reached the third grade, there was a noticed difference in his actions from those of his peers. He was much more careful and quiet than those who he had once called friends, and he seemed to keep his few friends closer, all while doing everything he possibly could to stay out of trouble. Still, he remained happy with himself and his life, so who was to complain?
When Seth was six years old, young Samantha Hall was born. They were closer than most siblings were, once they got past the oh-crap-give-me-that-back stage. Seth was quite protective of his younger sister, always rushing to her aid if she fell off the monkey bars, always skeptical of her playmates, anything he could do to keep her from getting hurt.
Unfortunately, when Samantha turned eight (Seth being fourteen at the time), she was diagnosed with acute Myelogenous Leukemia, and that was one hurt that Seth had no control over.
Acute Myelogenous Leukemia (AML) hardly ever occurs in female children - the survival rate is 40%, and little Samantha's immune system prior to this diagnosis wasn't remarkable.
It tore him apart - it was a severe case, and while Seth always had high hopes, even the doctors weren't so positive that she was going to make it through. The family moved to Akron, Ohio for Samantha to be treated at the Akron Children's Hospital. It was a rough six year ride, many trips to the hospital, though she'll finally pull through at age fourteen (he will be twenty).
His sister's disease greatly affected his performance in school. While he's a smart kid, the stress of everything is getting to him, and his grades have fallen. He's still struggling to pass.
